I stared at my screen looking blank because I couldn’t remember when was the last time I visited Phuket… so I look through my inbox …

I Flew with Tigerair in 2014

8 years ago! and I have forgotten that Tigerair existed, since merging with Scoot in 2016.

My main goal is to clock my last 2 nights and qualify for a fast track to elite gold. There are 3 properties to choose from and I don’t need anything flashy and upscale but affordable so Hilton Garden Inn Bang Tao is the best choice. I booked the cheapest room with Sweeten Your Stay Package (Free breakfast with 25% off on dining, spa and extra spends) for THB1869 a night plus all taxes

Shuttle Bus Service

Lobby

The hotel offers a shuttle bus service with dropoff only within 1km. You can use this service to go to the beach or Villa Market. If you like to go anywhere else you can book a Grabcar

Breakfast

I am guessing due to low occupancy they are only offering a semi-breakfast buffet. (pardon me for the lack of photos) self-service options include bread, assorted pastries, a salad bar, sliced fruits and cold cuts.

They have a make-to-order menu to choose from, I was so happy that they have pancakes! and I ordered fried rice with an egg as well. They were so delicious, if you have an appetite you can always order more

Thoughts

If you are looking for an affordable and comfortable place, you can consider staying here. It’s also perfect for travellers who want a quiet and layback environment plus it’s close to the airport. Staffs were amicable and provided excellent service.

The downside especially for solo travellers is getting here cheaply. There is NO shared mini van service to Bang Tao (only to popular destinations like Patong, Karon… etc.) and it costs B700, I am not sure about GrabCar but it might cost the same.

Alternatively is to take the Phuket Smart Bus for B100 (cash only) and tell the driver that you are stopping at Bang Tao near Boat Avenue and it takes about 15mins to walk to Hilton, check your GPS and if you are near don’t be afraid to ask the driver to stop otherwise he won’t! My driver’s English wasn’t good and despite telling him “Bang Tao” multiple times before boarding, he passed the stop and I ended up really far away and I walked about 30mins.
